Director Vicky Jewson has quickly become a filmmaker to watch with a reputation for creating sophisticated, commercially viable films on an independent budget. Having already directed two feature films, Vicky also operates her own production company, Jewson Films, with producer Rupert Whitaker. Vicky’s films look to reinforce the controversial role of the young, powerful, female protagonist. At 21, Vicky began her career in feature film making with her directorial debut Lady Godiva, a romantic comedy starring Phoebe Thomas and Matthew Chambers. During that same year, she was also the recipient of the “Shell Arts and Culture Women of the Future Award.”
Vicky’s second and most recent film, action thriller Born of War, was shot at the age of 26 and stars Sofia Black D’Elia and James Frain. Born of War will be released in the US on DVD and Blu-Ray on January 27, 2015 by Lionsgate Home Entertainment and will be released by Lionsgate in the UK on May 1st with a theatrical platform.
